Trouble with Virtual Machine (using Parallels) -- need a consultant to walk me through this

I am in over my head. I am pretty technical, but I am having tremendous problems using Parallels on my mac, MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports).

I downloaded and installed Parallels after upgrading my Mac to Big Sur V. 11.2.1

Now, I cannot locate my Virtual Machine, I cannot re-install Windows. I keep hitting roadblocks and would like to Hire someone ASAP to help me trouble shoot.

Do you have any recommendations? thank you in advance. I am desperate here.

Laurel, If you have enough disk space make a copy of the PVM file. On your copy of the PVM, right click to bring up a menu. Once the menu appears, one of the options should be show package contacts. One of the files inside the PVM ends in .HDD copy this file to your desktop. Now navigate to your desktop and right click on the .HDD file. Choose open with menu item select Parallels desktop. This should then ask you to create a new virtual machine.

Make sure you are working on a copy.

Also have you posted on the Parallels forums. Their tech support is decent.

Thank you for your patience, folks, as I took a few days from this tricky issue.

I have downloaded Parallels 16.

I double-clicked the .pvm file. I am then forced into the screen below that gives me four choices.

I have no time machine startup disk, so I keep clicking on "Reinstall OS X."

The next screen says to click Continue to set up the installation of OS X 10.10.

It then says “to download and restore OS X, your computer’s eligibility will be verified with Apple.”

Continue.

I click Continue and it says "a required download is missing.”

I really don’t know what to do next.

No one in the Apple Support Communities is for hire, and by terms of the community, cannot provide personal contact information here.

Install the very latest released version of Parallels 16 which has specific support for Big Sur (macOS 11.2.1). You may need to pay an upgrade fee and an annual subscription fee before you can install anything as a guest.
