Apple Junk Bluetooth

I have a new 2020 iMac 27" with 128GB ram and 16GB GPU running Big Sur (BS) with nothing but problems.

But,

Perhaps somebody here has an answer that I haven't tried yet, that would be nice.

PROBLEM:

Bluetooth stutters, what I mean is that the mouse will jitter and my keyboard makes 20 plus spaces between letters while typing.

TEMP CORRECTION

Disconnect mouse and keyboard, turning them off, then back on and they work correctly for 10 minutes or so, then its back to the same issue.

I did not have this problem with Catalina, which was factory installed, only B.S. has this issue.

Things I have tried,

Deleted bluetooth.plist and rebooted

Deleted all bluetooth devices and re-added.

Started in Safe Mode deleted everything in the bluetooth folder and removed every single bluetooth item, plugged in USB mouse and Keyboard, rebooted and re-installed from scratch all my bluetooth devices.

Replaced bluetooth plist with the one from my Catalina Time Machine

None of these attempts fixes the issue.

Honestly, I think Apple doesn’t care about intel based computers and I should have never bought this POS.

But if someone has a solution, that would be helpful.

Thanks.

I think your bluetooth issue is being caused by something that has been installed. The most suspect issue is the Sophos app you have installed. Please read the following:

The best antivirus, cleaning app, and overall maintenance app for Mac OS is Mac OS itself. All you need to do with Mac OS to keep it secure and running well is to keep it up-to-date and do periodic (about 1x per week) restarts. Other than that, leave it alone. Adding third party antivirus, cleaning, security and other types of maintenance apps to Mac OS adds no additional level of security. The only thing these apps do is have the opposite affect users want. They make Mac OS slow, unstable, generate odd behavior (much like you are experiencing) and make Mac OS appear buggy.

Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for Sophos and follow to the letter. Then restart in Safe Mode per the directions in Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac and then restart normally and re-test.

You can save both you and us a lot of time and effort if you do the following:

Please navigate to the Mac App Store or navigate to www.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

For instructions on how to download your EtreCheck report and attach it to your reply to this message please click https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211

Please re-read my post, we would like you to run an EtreCheck report of your system and then post the report so we can review it. This will help us diagnose what may be occurring with your computer. What has been installed is a frequent cause of problems and it takes multiple sets of eyes to see everything.

If you don't want to do that, then I'm afraid there is no way we can assist as we have no data to look at. In that case I'd recommend you either call AppleCare or book an appointment with your local AASP.

Sophos has been removed for quit some time. I had installed it back while Catalina was installed and removed it in November prior to the B.S. update. Thanks, but this is just residual program dirt that I can easily still manually remove. Not certain if that will correct the is s ue

I followed your request and looked at the SOPHOS web page for removal instructions

Home. Remove all Sophos remaining files.

  • ~/Library/Application Support
  • ~/Library/Application Scripts
  • ~/Library/Containers
  • ~/Library/Caches
  • ~/Library/Cookies
  • ~/Library/Preferences
  • ~/Library/Logs

all of these are empty, no Sophos files found, so doing a safe mode restart is unnecessary.

Thanks again
