I have an old iPad, maybe gen 2. Has not been turned on in years. its been on the charger for days. Will not turn on. While plugged into power the apple symbol comes on then goes off but it will not turn on. Ive tried to force on but still nothing.

Forget this almost 10-year old iPad.

It is no longer worth spending any more time or efforts with it.

All 8-10 year old iOS devices are obsolete now.

Apple ended support for these old devices back in 2016 and third party app developers abandoned these old iPad modelsmbwck in 2018.

There are virtually no more apps for these old iPads, any longer.

Please just recycle this iPad responsibly.

Time to really seriously consider a new iPad model OR a much, MUCH “newer” and less expensive, used iPad models, from better known, trusted Apple product/device retailers/resellers, locally or online, capable of running the latest iPadOS versions.

There are plenty of newer, older iPad models that can run the latest, current versions of iPadOS.

Even if you do manage to get it started, you will probably be very disappointed as it is an antique. It does not have the components necessary to run today's apps. I agree with QuickTimeKirk - the battery is likely dead. You can recycle it at any Apple Store.

Try contacting Apple Support. This is not normal. If your computer can't detect it, then something is wrong.

Do not attempt any more charging.

My guess is that the battery is even beyond dead.

Recycle it.
