I cannot log onto my email account. All I get is unable to verify account name or password. The account is valid and the password is correct. I can log on with my other four devices, so it is just this MAC.

The only other thing I can think of is that the wrong password might have been saved in your Mac's Keychain, and this incorrect password is what is tried when attempting to access your AOL email account.
You can review what passwords are stored in the Keychain, by using the Keychain Access app, located in the /Applications/Utilities folder on your Mac.
I suggest giving it a try. Run the app. Then select the "login" keychain under "Default Keychains" in the left-most window. Then try entering something like AOL in the Search window. Any keychain entry that has "AOL" in it should appear in the list. Most likely, the AOL password will be of Kind: application password.
For example, for my Hotmail account, it shows up as: <my Hotmail account name>@hotmail.com. If I double-click on this entry, a new pop-up window will appear offering my an opportunity to "Show password." If I select that, I just need to enter my Mac's user account password to see what is there.
If this works for you, you should see what the Keychain thinks your AOL password is. If so, double-check it to see if it is correct, If it is not, just delete this particular keychain entry. Then try logging into your AOL account again.

What email provider are you having issues logging into? Regardless, can you log into their web-based email portal successfully on this same iMac? Did you enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your email user account?
For example, if you use Microsoft Hotmail, Live, etc., and enabled 2FA on your Microsoft user account, Microsoft will require that you generate an app-specific password to access that account from Mac's Apple Mail app.
Again, do you use 2FA with your AOL email account? If so, you may need to generate an app-specific password to use in the Mail app to gain access to it.
Using AOL, and I can log onto portal with no problem with my other accounts. I added an account just to see what would happen, and it does the same thing "unable to verify account name or password". I can't delete the problem account because I can't log onto it.
On all my other devices the email accounts are behaving normally with no problems.
