Connecting Thunderbolt 4 windows laptop to Apple Thunderbolt Display

I recently switched up my MacBook for a windows laptop and specifically looked for one that had Thunderbolt 4 port that supports display and power delivery as I wanted to continue using my Apple Thunderbolt Display (it’s an old one with a thunderbolt 2 cable). I bought a T2 to T3 adaptor to plug into the T4 port of my laptop. But it doesn’t wake the Apple display. Would really appreciate if someone with hybrid setup experience could give some advice about whether it is technically possible to get the Apple Thunderbolt Display working? Thought it wouldn’t be a problem since thunderbolts were supposed to be backward compatible. Not sure if there are other technical or software requirements on the non-Apple laptop (ASUS TP470EZ) to run the Apple display. Thank you!
