error message "error while installing. expected 1 instead of 0”

I am getting this periodic error message “error while installing. expected 1 instead of 0”

surprised that no one on google has ever had this error. it’s random. the error message

is not associated with any specific application. it just appears out of nowhere. i thought

maybe it was coming from finder or firefox. but it appears to not be associated with anything.

usually i am only running firefox. but to be sure i shut down other applications. but i still get this message

every five or six hours. i even went into activity monitor a few times and shut down anything that didn't need to be running. but i still get the message. anyone know what this means?

Hello zwiebelz.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are getting an error notification intermittently. We’re happy to help.

Did you recently make changes to your Mac? Have you recently installed an app or macOS update?

We’d like to have you try some steps to isolate the cause. Let’s try the steps here: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

We also recommend testing in a new user account here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know the results.

Take care.

SOLVED: For myself there may have been a couple sources of the problem. It has been a week now since I have had no error message displayed. One of the two possible causes was a file in "Library > LaunchAgents" called com.FHilEnLirpnWkxhyqvwjyFrmBeYMAgent.plist. I deleted this file and restarted the MacBook Pro. Unfortunately the error message still kept appearing. The next possible cause was in "Library > Preferences" called com.behenic.peglet.plist. I deleted this file and restarted my MacBook Pro again. It has been one week since then and I have not seen the error message display again.

also the error sometimes appears as

“Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0)”

I think this is a “javascript” error according to google. but i don't know anything

about that. and i still get the error even when the internet is off.

I am not running anything that should cause an error.

it looks like some kind of code error. but i am not “coding” anything.

that is why it is so strange.

the error happens even when no applications are running including the internet.

I’m not sure. maybe within the last month. i think i installed uBlock Origin. and GZDoom.

Hi zwiebelz.

Were you able to complete the troubleshooting steps we previously provided? If so, what were the results? Do you still get the error message?

If you haven’t done so, we recommend uninstalling the apps you previously mentioned and install one at a time to test to see if the issue persists.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.
