SAFARI: DEFAULTING TO WHITE FONT ON WHITE BACKGROUND ON CERTAIN WEBSITES

SAFARI Version 14.0.3 (16610.4.3.1.4)

Mac BigSur 11.2.1 (20D74)

At seemingly random times, the font color will be defaulted or change to white on certain websites, i.e. when using a search function or text entry box on a website. Thus it results in a “white on white” font to background and causes both what text one is entering or what text was preexisting to be unreadable/undectable, appearing as if there is no text present. However, highlighting with the cursor reveals that there clearly is.

Ive noticed this occurring from time to time with website and email display, and autofill. i have also noticed this occurring on both the MAC and iPhone.

Research shows some correlation to other issues posted in support related to a helvica font issue, reader, dark mode etc, but none of these were a perfect match in description to this problem, nor did the offered solutions provide results. I am not using dark mode, im not changing background etc. Im not using reader mode...

Hi kreigw19,

We're understanding you to say that when using Safari on your Mac and iPhone, you occasionally see an input field showing white text in the field on a white background. Do you notice this happens on specific websites on both devices? When it happens does restarting the device, reloading the site or relaunching Safari change it?

We'd like to have you clear the history, website data, etc in Safari on one of your devices, then test with one of the sites you notice this on and see if there is any change.

Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac

Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone
