apple music opening randomly

I have a subscription to Qobuz, and I've cancelled my subscription to Apple Music. Now the Apple Music app keeps opening on my mac, not only when I open the Qobuz web player, but even when it changes song. How to stop it?

thanks

I'm having the same issue. When I open the Qobuz app and start to stream music using Airplay, Apple Music opens. If I exit Apple Music it opens again every time a new song begins to stream on Qobuz. This seems to be an issue only since updating to 11.2.3 on my M1 MacBook Air. I have gone through the steps you suggested, they are irrelevant as this issue is with streaming content, thus there is no file to set a preferred music player using "open with". Also Apple Music is not set to open on start-up. I suspect the trouble is with Airplay since this only happens when I'm using Airplay to stream to my BlueSound Node. There is no issue if I use internal speakers or I use the BlueSound app to stream to the BlueSound Node (it does not use Airplay).

Hello Kunming,

Thanks for reaching out to us for support. We would love to help you. To prevent applications from automatically opening on your Mac, please check out the link below.

Add or remove automatic items

If you’re looking to change your default music player, the steps below will show you how to do that.

Step 1 - Choose your desired file. Open Finder on your Mac and find the file you want to play

Step 2 - Open with. Click on the "Open with" tab

Step 3 - Choose your preferred music player

Step 4 - Apply and confirm changes

Cheers!

Oops. It's back with a vengeance! here's what is happening this morning.

no error message. I just open Qobuz and Apple Music pops up; I close AM, press play and Apple Music pops up again. I close AM, but then when the next song comes on, either because it's in the queue or I selected it, AM pops up again.

This happens both with the Qobuz app and with the web player.

Just now, it happened when I opened Linked In! Linked In automatically opens to messages, and I had the impression that it happened as the messaging bit opened.

And now, it happened when I received a message on Facebook Messenger.

And now, it happened when I clicked on something I had googled and a page opened!

So my guess is, it's not related to Qobuz; instead there's something in Apple Music which is triggered by a message or page opening. Very weird.

Hello Kunming,

Thanks for letting us know. This is certainly not the experience that we want you to have with Apple Music, and we are going to do everything we can to help you. When you have a free moment, can you please tell us if you’ve had an opportunity to try the steps we’ve previously suggested? If so, can you please tell us what happened? We ask because earlier you mentioned that the problem had inexplicably disappeared on its own.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to give those steps a try, please do so and let us know the outcome.

Cheers!

Hi, I am having the exact same issue. I use OSX 11.2.3 and play song using VLC. I send the audio stream using Airplay to my receiver and every time I click next song Apple music turns up. If I turn off airplay, then its fine. But as soon as I send using airplay it starts every time and every time I change song.

Really frustrating.
