Ghost or Phantom calls

I am receiving calls from people in my contacts that are not actually making the calls. When you answer there is nothing. I have contacted them and they say they are not calling and have no record in there recent calls. Also my phone is doing the same thing, randomly calling numbers from my contact list but there is nothing in my recent call. I can receive up to 20 calls a day. It’s very frustrating. I’ve had my phone shut off for 2 days now. Please help!
