Reset date format on iCloud Mail

Is there any way to prevent Apple automatically changing date to US format when they release a new version to iCloud or update? My current solution is as suggested here recently, but involves changing after the event - to change my iCloud email settings (in the web) from US American to UK English date format from MM/DD/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY was to:

Log into iCloud and go to the main settings page.

Click the 'Time Zone / Region' setting (even though these may be correct for the zone you want)

In the box that appears, UNTICK the 'Make Formats Match Language' option

Then select another language at random from the option list, don't save, then select 'English' again

Then choose 'Done' - It may be necessary to logout and log back in again for the change to take effect.

When I then went into iCloud mail on the Web, I checked my email and it was now in the correct DD/MM/YYYY format for UK English.

My question specifically requests solutions that could PREVENT the date format from being changed/reset to default to US format by global updates from Apple/iCloud in future, applied by someone in Cupertino who is unable to contemplate a world outside their own national cultural silo, not workarounds that have to be repeated every time this issue arises. Thank you.
