Sign into Paramount Plus on Apple TV
Subscribed on Apple TV, downloaded the App, cannot restore purchase. Says I had a subscription and I should sign up again. Works fine when I access it through the Apple TV app.

A Paramount+ subscription started outside of the Apple TV app, will require its own app.
A Paramount+ Channel subscription started inside of the Apple TV app, will require it to be viewed in the Apple TV app.
These two types of subscriptions are generally not exchangeable (although content providers can make provisions for a one-way crossover).

The solution to this is a bit tricky, but thankfully Paramount knows about this, and they offer a workaround. Check this out...
The people over at Paramount have a solution to subscriptions made via iTunes. For you to access Paramount on the service app, you first need to verify to Paramount the subscription you made via iTunes
Let me quote what they say on this
“If you have not yet verified your subscription on paramountplus.com:
Please visit www.paramountplus.com/apple and follow the instructions.
You will be prompted to create a paramountplus.comusername and password, and you will use those credentials to sign in to Paramount+ on paramountplus.com.”
I hope this clarifies the issue.
I had the same problem.
I subscribed to Peacock through Apple and am able to access Peacock's app on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Roku by logging into my Peacock account. I can't recall the specifics of how that worked but I do recall having no issues at all.
I subscribed to Paramount+ (then still CBS All Access) and tried to access the subscription through CBS' website. There is no option to log in with Apple credentials. I contacted Apple support and was informed that it's not possible to access CBS' app, rather I must use Apple Channels. I don't like having everything jumbled together. Fortunately, Apple unsubscribed me and refunded my money. I resumed my CBS All Access subscription directly with them and all is well.
Back when DC Universe was a movie/tv thing, it worked like Peacock does now. I am sure there are reasons that the various arrangements make sense to the providers.

Dear Apple,
I paid for Paramount+ on my Apple TV, and I subscribe to every **** service you offer, including Apple TV+. Now, please allow me to watch it on my Mac when signed in with my Apple ID.
Kindest Possible Regards,

Apple is not limiting this in any way. It's up to Paramount. Also, this is a user to user forum. Apple is not here.
If you subscribed through the Paramount+ App on your Apple TV then you can use that subscription on Paramount's website. But you cannot use it through the Paramount+ Channel inside the Apple TV App.
If you subscribed through the Paramount+ Channel in the Apple TV App on your Apple TV or other device with the Apple TV app, you can go to the Paramount website and link that subscription to a Paramount account so you can use it on the standalone Paramount+ app or their website.

If you've signed up for Paramount+ via Apple TV channels, just go to paramountplus.com/apple. You will have to verify your Apple ID on paramountplus.com only once.
After you have verified your account and created a Paramount+ username and password, you can sign in using the log-in credentials you just created (not your Apple ID) on paramountplus.com or the Paramount+ app.
I had similar trouble here. Before I bought an new Apple TV I was using Paramount+ inside Apple TV+ app on a Samsung Smart TV.
Then when my new Apple TV came, I was surprised to have a Paramount+ Standalone app, so, I try it, with no exit.
Worked only inside Apple TV+ app.
And the strange thing was that some times I clicked on a movie from Paramount to watch and it try do open it on Amazon Prime (that I have too, and knew that exist a Paramount+ inside of it too, but knew that it won't open the Apple TV+ Paramount on it.)
All strange behaviors. Paramount+ exist inside almost every suite of iTV Providers but they are not interchangeable.
So, to fix those erroneous behaviors, I prefer to cancel my Paramount signature inside Apple TV+ app, and then sign in from the Paramount+ standalone app, with a new subscription.
That fix everything.
Apple TV now recognized it and even from inside Apple TV+ (that is inside the set top box Apple TV, rsrsrsrsr) it call the right app.
All of this is like parallel universes that all have Paramount+, but they are not the same...
lol
;)
No apple channels are all separate from the native apps. I use apple channels a lot. There is no way to sign in to the native apps that way.
If you subscribed outside of Apple TV, then you have to install the App onApple Tv device. If you click the icon on the Home Screen it will try and take you to Paramount within the Apple TV app which is totally separate. If you signed up within the Apple TV app, you can not sign in on a separate app anywhere except in the Apple TV app. It really is a bit of a mess, not helped by Apple TV device, Apple TV app, and the Apple TV streaming service. Apple screwed up big time on this confusing naming and the inability to personalize the Apple TV app to show what services you have already subscribed to.
I just spent over an hour with Apple's tech support for this same issue. I'm not sure which of the following helped things work but here's what we did.
This time, the show played as it recognized my subscription--yay!
Apple channels is a separate service than the native app. If you pay for apple channels there is no log in for the app and same with if you sign up for the app you can’t stream through apple channels

The Channel subscription inside the Apple TV App and the Paramount+ standalone App subscription are 2 different things.
That is indeed confusing. If you subscribed directly to the standalone Paramount+ App, it will not validate in the Paramount+ channel within the Apple TV App. Unfortunately at this time , there does not appear to be a way to get the standalone Paramount+ subscription too work with the Apple TV App Paramount+ channel.
The reverse however is possible. If you started a subscription for the Paramount+ channel within the Apple TV App, then Paramount has a way to link that subscription to a regular Paramount+ account that can be used in their Standalone App in most devices and their website.

Except this doesn't work in other countries, like Canada, where going to paramountplus.com/apple simply redirects the user to the /ca/ page https://www.paramountplus.com/ca/
Adding "/apple" to that URL https://www.paramountplus.com/ca/apple/ also does nothing (404 page), nor is there any way to navigate or search for any such region-specific help on the CA site, it all loops back to that useless help page quoted (for Canadian users it is useless) .
So, for anyone not in the good ol' US of A it is garbage, I'm forced to email them instead, to which I'll probably waste a week explaining the issue or linking them here. I (understandably, I think) prefer to minimize the number of companies that have my credit card details, I'd rather trust apple with this than Paramount.
And, I'm attempting to rewatch paramount+ episodes (through the AppleTV app) that I've always had access to before (including up to the date I changed my email), that suddenly are asking me to sign into paramount+ (creating an account there offers no way to specify an apple ID), simply because I changed the email associated with my Apple ID. Logging out completely of all apple ID services and logging back in, nothing. I even cancelled my subscription and resubscribed under since that has the current email... nothing (but it doesn't cancel right away so maybe the issue is there). But, I KNOW that I should have access to these same episodes and mysteriously don't. My next step is a complete reset of my ATV, re-login, and never ever touching the crappy Paramount+ app ever again (installed it out of curiosity, and, as others have mentioned it borked my existing, watchable shows immediately afterwards, so that random episodes demand the Paramount+ app that can't be logged into lol). There is a bug or a problem here.
I eventually requested a refund from Apple and signed up directly through Paramount. Works everywhere now. Not as convenient to end the subscription, but at least it works.
Paramount+ reports that I don't have a subscription.
See your subscriptions overview - Apple. Does it say “Paramount+” or “Paramount+ tv channel”, or neither?
The Paramount Plus channel inside the Apple TV App is a separate subscription to Apple TV+ they are not related.
If you were using the actual Paramount+ channel inside the Apple TV app on any device to look for the content, then there's no way you would have seen a price.
If you looked for the episode through the regular search it would have come up with the iTunes entry by default. It's entirely possible Paramount plus does not have the second episode of "Way of the Warrior" available so the only option is the iTunes Store entry.
Again this is not a screw up by Apple, it's a lack of understanding of where content actually is and how you are accessing it.
iTunes Store content, Apple TV+ content and Paramount + content are separate things entirely. However the Apple TV App searches through all of them and offers the playback options it finds for the piece of content.
Getting angry will not resolve your issue. Understanding what happened will.
I actually went into Apple TV settings, cancelled the "1 month, free trial" option and signed into the Paramount+ app online to create my account. From there I downloaded the new version of the app to my MacBook, which then transferred that app to my IPad and Apple TV on my smart TV. This also discontinued the $9.99 monthly fee for commercial-free episodes, and allowed me to sign up for a $4.99 monthly subscription fee. An option that did not come with the original Apple TV option. I'm cutting the cord and do not care about commercials as much as I do content of programming and pricing. My mute button works just fine.
I am having the same issue. I received a free month of Paramount+ through Apple TV. When I tried to watch the latest episode of “CBS Sunday Morning” on the Apple TV Paramount Channel, it insisted on taking me to the app to watch the show. However, I was unable to log into the app with my Apple ID. There was an option to log in for those subscribed through “iTunes.” When I tried that, it said that I had no subscription (Paramount+ is definitely listed as a subscription on my Apple TV account—I double checked).
My guess is that Apple TV has some agreement with Paramount about what content it can show on its “channel” versus the full app. Basically, from what I see here, the Paramount+ channel on Apple TV is a stripped down, content-restricted version of the real thing for the same price. You’re probably better off subscribing through Paramount directly.
