Just got new iphone 11. The mail icon does not update badge count or notify me with sound when get new email. Only when I open the mail app do I see badge count. Notifications are on for mail app. Tried turning notifications off, rebooting phone and turning notifications back on. Still not working.

Settings > Password & Accounts > Fetch New Data
What settings do you have for 'Push', 'FETCH' and each email account?
If you want the badge count to work turn Push on and set FETCH to automatic. and set Fetch for each email account.

Yes I had all those settings correct. I looked at iOS version and see there was an update to 14.4.1 so installed new version and so far that seems to have worked. Thanks for your prompt reply.
