Hello, BellVL.

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing keeping a conversation going on your iPhone. You explained that you’ve tried FaceTime, Snapchat, Instagram, and Discord, and the call always disconnects. These are all web-based apps that require a strong and steady internet connection to maintain a call. Since you’ve already tried restarting your iPhone, we suggest the following the relevant steps outlined here:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support

If you’re not using a Wi-Fi network, you might try connecting to one to see if it helps. Step #7 from the article is also relevant with a cellular data connection.

Still no luck? The answers to these questions may help:

  1. Which iPhone and iOS version are you using?
  2. Do you have any app updates available for the apps you're using?
  3. Is it happening with both a Wi-Fi and cellular connection?

Warmest Regards.

Hello, BellVL .

Thank you for keeping your iPhon updated, and for clarifying that it only happens when you’re using your iPhone speakers and mic. It sounds like you may be experiencing an issue with your microphone(s).

Try to isolate to your microphone using the steps with the Camera or Voice Memos apps outlined in this article:

If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support

If you can isolate the issue to the microphone, you’ll want to look into service options for your iPhone.

If you are able to record using the Voice Memos and Camera app, reach out to Apple Support for more advanced assistance..

BellVL,

No worries! Knowing that you're able to make and receive FaceTime calls with headphones helps. To make sure we're following correctly, does this mean that your FaceTime calls only disconnect when you are using the built-in speaker and microphone?

Which iPhone do you have? What is the iOS version?

Does it matter if it is a voice or audio call? Are you able to make regular phone calls?

We may want to test to see if you're experiencing an issue with the microphone, speaker or camera on your iPhone.

We look forward to hearing from you.
