Will a new Mac Mini work with my TV screen?

If I buy a Mac Mini with wireless keyboard and wireless trackpad. Can I use it with my 55 inch 4K TV screen or will I get some kind of lag in the display. To be connected on one of the HDMI channels.

I'm now finding reading difficult on my 13" MacBook Pro. It's OK when scaled for large text but quite often I cannot see the bottom of a page on some apps and have to change back.

I have Apple TV and mirror the screen occasionally but it doesn't seem ideal. Some lag and colours not so good.

I'm thinking this solution will be half the price of buying a 16" MacBook although I would miss watching TV whilst computing.

I'm 72 and spend most of the day on my computer so want to sit comfortably and not at a desk otherwise I would have considered an iMac.
