I tried to transfer bookmarks from my 10 year old iMac to my new iMac, but can't locate a file named bookmarks.plist anywhere on my old computer. In fact, I can't find a bookmarks file at all. Help!!

Which version of macOS and Safari are you running on the old iMac?
Normally, they are in /Users/[Your_Username]/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist. So if you open Finder and press Shift+Command+G and type (or paste) this
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
you should see them.
