I'm running iPad 11" with the latest software and MBP with Mohave. It will no longer sync to transfer music. Must I upgrade to Catalina? Did any of you have problems with the upgrade (concerned about photos).

If the notice happens when you plug in the iPad, then that's just an iTunes update. Not a macOS update.
Let iTunes update to be able to connect to the iPad.
With that said, the Photos App on Catalina is pretty much the same as it is with Mojave.

I'm running iPad 11" latest version of software, but on my MBP I'm still running Mohave. When I try to sync, it says I must update on the MBP. Must I install Catalina?
