Copy live photos and all meta data to external device
My father had quite a large database of photos, videos, and most important Live Photos. Reaching max capacity on iMac 3.5TB, I need to have his photos synced to a connected external device and most important is retaining Live Photo’s and the metadata to be easily viewed and transferred from external to Mac devices.
Searching for a reasonable priced Thubderbolt 30 GB/s SSD or similar depending on price/capacity. I am aware your photos can be stored on a separate device however the main concern is losing the Live Photo’s which from past experience has occurred.
Does anyone know or is there a new software or way to easily transfer and not lose the Live Photo’s and the embedded Metadata? Ideally I would love to have my Synology NAS be the primary storage, however I believe since Aperture leaving the Apple playing field I don’t know of another software or way to view Live Photo’s as you can in the iPhoto app.
Any and all help would be very appreciated. Everyone has their preference, I understand the beauty of intact Live Photo’s, however not being an avid Apple user myself I was hoping for any support here before diving in and taking this project on to find a work around.
thank you all in advance and always be well and happy for it the best medicine in any time especially now.
Devices used:
iMac 27 in 2017
Macbook Pro 15in 2018
iPhone XS Maxx
Lacie 3TB and LaCie 5TB 30GB/s externals
Synology NAS 918+ 30TB max
Possible to use Windows or Linux with Live Photo’s?
Thank You!
