Not exactly the issue

trying to sync all information from iPhone to MacBook Air. Contacts are in the cloud but not on the laptop. When I go to Finder my phone does not show up.

On your phone go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud - Contacts. Turn it on.


On your MacBook go to Menu, System Preferences. Catalina or Big Sur, Click on your Apple ID and check the Contacts box. Earlier Mac OS versions click iCloud and do the same thing. This will sync all iCloud contacts in near real time. If you have contacts from other sources such as MS Exchange, gmail or any other ISP you need to be logged in to that account on both the phone and the MacBook.
