I am trying to connect an Benq monitor to my new MacBook Air with an M1 chip. I'm doing this with a Satechi USB-C HUB with 4K HDMI. All that shows up on the display is the background and the a version of the display window from system preferences.

I am trying to connect an Benq monitor to my new MacBook Air with an M1 chip. I'm doing this with a Satechi USB-C HUB with 4K HDMI. All that shows up on the display is the background and a version of the display window from system preference with a picture of the BenQ PD2700U, Display - Color, Resolution: Default for display or Scaled, Rotation:Standard (drop down menu, but with no arrow and no way to open. The Rotation control does not show up on the laptop's display and the brightness controls, arrangement and night display don't appear on the BenQ. both have the gather windows button at the bottom of the window. What do I need to do?

I would suggest getting a certified 4K USB-C to HDMI cable

or a certified USB-C to Display Port cable and see if it

works with that. If it does, then I would suspect the hub

to be either faulty or stretching its claims of 4K support.

FWIW, several reviews of the hub on Amazon have many

complaints of faulty HDMI.
