E-mail (IMAP) does not delete from the server when deleted from Apple Mail on desktop computer

I use Apple Mail on my desktop. When I delete mail in Apple Mail, the mail is not deleted on the server. This only happens for one of my three e-mail accounts. When I move the mail to a local folder the mail stays on the server. However, when I delete mail on my iPhone it is deleted on the server. IMAP mail worked until about March 5th on my desktop Apple Mail.

Check Mail > Preferences > Accounts > account with the problem > Mailbox behaviors and pick None for Trash Mailbox.

More about that here.

Failing that, you can also try removing the mail account with the problem, then re-adding it back in.
