My son’s iPhone 7 Plus stopped working one day...there is no sound when recording any kind of video, and no audio when recording video using apps like SnapChat, Siri won’t work, etc. Also, he can dial someone’s number but when the person picks up, there is no sound. When he Facetimes someone, it drops the call immediately when the person answers. Any ideas?! Thanks in advance!
Darn. I hate to say it but that and all other issues are a sign of a chip failure that needs hardware repair or replacement.
On a phone call is the Speaker button greyed out?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, your son's iPhone 7 Plus has no sound. We'll do our best to assist.
If this happening across these apps, then we'd make sure Bluetooth is disabled in Settings > Bluetooth. And that the iPhone isn't connected to a Bluetooth accessory.
Test it out after disabling LTE, if applicable. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Enable LTE, if it says "Voice & Data" then it's currently enabled. We'd like to have you disable this and test, then re-enable this and select 'Data Only' to test.
If the issue is resolved with 'Data Only', then you'd want to contact your wireless carrier for further support.
In case that's not the issue, then we'd recommend to Contact Apple Support
