How long does the logicboard last?

Here's the chain of events to put things into perspective:

The macbook went black suddenly while I was working on it. Battery life is about 30% based on my memory when it died. I plugged the power to the macbook but the screen remains black while the base of the macbook feels warm.

I brought the macbook to an apple store the next day and the staff took it to be checked by a technician backend. The diagnosis is that the logicboard is dead and it cost about $700 to replace. Which doesn't make sense to replace the logicboard since I can get a brand new macbook air at less than 2K.

Hence my question on how long does the logicboard lasts because the last time the macbook went black in August 2018, the authorised apple service provider changed the logicboard already. And this particular logicboard lasted less than 2 years in this case.

I think a new macbook air may be in place but then again, I have concern on whether this event would be repeated. I don't want to replace my laptop every 3 years. :/
