the volume controls on my magic keyboard, F10, F11 and F12, don't work. I have disabled mouse controls in preferences, pressed option five times, etc no luck. The keyboard viewer from the menu bar indicates that the keys respond, but they don't effect the speaker volume. What to do?

Make sure System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard: "Use F1, F2, etc…" is unchecked".

Thanks! That's the opposite of what I think the directions say, "When this option is selected, press the Fn key to use the special features printed on each key." In any case it works when unselected.
