How to pair my Apple Watch to update it

I have a series 1 Apple Watch and I haven’t charged it in a few months, when I did charge it I tried to re pair it to my iPhone XR and this popped up every time I tried to click try again it wouldn’t work and my iPhone is connected to wifi and yes I’ve restarted both devices and it continued to do this please help I watched millions of videos same problem no solution ...
