I don’t use safari for much anything, mainly Google searches, read articles, check my school website(rarely even), and stuff like that, so why did safari consume so much in so little when safari is supposed to be a basic standard use of the iPhone?

Tap on the overlapped boxes in the bottom corner. How many pages are open? Each open page uses some energy, and, if the page provides automatic updates it can even use energy when Safari is not the active app.

it used 30% of the battery consumed in that hour, not 30% of your total battery.

If any of the 3 are pages that are dynamic (that update when not) the then number of pages open doesn’t matter. Background app refresh does not need to be enabled. Try closing all pages for a week after each use and see what the difference is.
Safari uses a lot of net traffic so maybe the other app has less activity or web traffic
Safari is always a big user for me
Some other apps use more power with less minutes when you tap on the Show Activity icon.
not Too long ago, I took in my iPad for battery inspection, and the technician looked through the battery usage, and he said that even though I use safari a lot, it shouldn’t be using this much. He said it should be 15% max on the stuff that I do that I told him about, and what I do should not consume this much battery because it’s the most basic of uses for the iPad and iPhone alike, and that’s why it shouldn’t drain that much battery.
Oh that’s what it means! But nevertheless, i still believe it consumed too much battery because I used other apps for a longer time, and the highest one second to Safari only used up 12%, and I used that app for about 2 hrs. So why is safari consuming the most?
i keep a habit of making sure only 3 stay open at a time and close all the rest that I don’t need. If I need them, I make an exception, but I haven’t done that in a while. So background app refresh, or background web refresh, doesn’t apply here.

Nonsense. If all you did was Safari it would be near 100%
Safari was 28% at 8hrs over the last 10 days, when the daily avg was 4hrs, so that’s 8 out of at least 40hrs, which should not be 28%.
Fine.
And how many pages were open in Safari, and how many of them were auto updating.
