Airdrop automatically sends PDF to OneNote - no options given

I was trying to share some files with a coworker who recently got an iPad, however when I airdropped a PDF to her it automatically went to OneNote without offering any options to open elsewhere (which is what I experience with my iPad). She is wanting to have the PDF go straight to her Files. Is there a setting we need to locate and turn on to allow the "Open with..." options to appear?

dora104,

Got it, thanks for letting us know. Let's try some steps to see if we can isolate this issue and continue looking further into it. Do you know if the coworker with the iPad that showed the open with option was on the latest iPadOS? You'll also want to ensure that the other coworker where the file opens in OneNote automatically and your iPad are both fully updated: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Another step that can be taken is to restart the iPad, to see if that may help, which may seem like a simple step but it can sometimes help resolve issues: Restart your iPad

Best wishes.

Hey dora104,

We understand that your coworker would like for the PDF files that you AirDrop to her, to go to the Files app instead of opening in OneNote. Check out this information below, which seems relevant to what's going on with OneNote opening:

"If you tap Accept, the AirDrop will come through within the same app it was sent from. For example, photos appear in the Photos app and websites open in Safari."

That information is from this article: How to use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch As for the file being saved and going straight to the Files app, it's expected for the file that was sent through AirDrop to open first before it can be saved in the Files app. If needed, you can read more about the Files app here: Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care!

Unfortunately that doesn’t fix our issue. I was sending the file through Files but it would just automatically go to OneNote, and I also did the exact same thing with another coworker with the previous iPad gen and it did what I expected: showed the “open with...” dialogue box with multiple options and she was able to save it to her files
