Won't be as good of quality as Firewire, though, since you are going DV->analog->digital.

Again, ask on the iMovie forum, tell us what computer you have and someone there might be able to suggest a set of adapters.

You might need something like an El-Gato capture device.

You also might want to post this on the iMovie forum where people deal with this all the time.

(Your Mac is not *that* old or it would have a firewire port!)

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you'd like to transfer content from your Samsung Camcorder to your iMac. We'll do our best to assist with this.

If you can't directly connect the iMac to the camera, then you may need to look into a card reader that you can connect to your iMac. Depending on the iMac model and its ports, you'd want to make sure to purchase a reader that would work with your Mac.

In case you'd like a recommendation on what reader you may need, please reply back with your iMac model and year. You'll find this in the Apple menu > About this Mac. It would say, something similar to "Mid-2018, etc.".

Your Samsung should have come with cables to connect to NTSC/PAL video. My Canon did.
