Screen flashing while watching movies on full screen mode

Hi!

I own a Macbook Air 13 and from the very start I noticed something weird - my screen seems to be flashing every 5 seconds while I'm watching a movie on full screen mode. This happens while watching Netflix or Youtube on Safari and movies on Apple TV. After I switched to Opera there's no such problem, but it's not comfortable to use two browsers.

To clarify - I didn't change screen profile in terms of colors so it's not that. Also, night shift is turned off.

Do you have any tips on how to fix this issue? Thank you in advance.

Hi inalolina,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. As we understand, when you watch video through Safari, the screen will "flash". This doesn't happen inside other browsers.

Trying another browser was a fantastic isolating step.

Let's first try the steps here: If Safari doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected.

If the issue continues, test Safari and Netflix inside safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode. This can clear cache and make sure that no third party programs are interfering with Safari's performance.

After rebooting normally the issue continues, test inside a new user account. Here's how to make one: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.
