Hello,

I run in marathons and obstacle course races and I was wondering if you can live stream data from The Apple Watch to an app so that family and or friends can track my progress in real time?

There is "Find my Friends" or it might be called "Find My" these days.

If you grant your friends and family the ability to track you, they can get your location.

However, this involves their Apple device asking your Apple Watch to take a GPS reading and send it back to them. If they keep their Find My app open tracking you, each of their devices will ask your Apple Watch for an update once a minute.

That might be a significant power drain on your Apple Watch, while it is also measuring your exercise activities.

Ok, thank you.

I was afraid that might be the case. I know that Garmin has an app that links to their smart watches that allows others to view your progress in as close to real time as possible and I was hoping that Apple and their watches had the same or similar technology since I already have an iPhone and was hoping to stick with Apple products.

I have not purchased a smart watch yet but I am planning to for this upcoming season of marathons and obstacle course races so that the Mrs. I would be able to track my progress and view my vitals and real time since some of the races I run take you several miles out into the wilderness and sometimes very harsh conditions. Some of these races take between three and four hours to complete. I was just hoping that there was someway that she could keep tabs on where I was at and how I was doing during the course of any particular race. Unfortunately, it appears that Garmin is the only one that comes close to being able to do that currently.
