message on my Apple devices of weak security but iPad and iPhone don't seem to recognize a change

I recieved a message on my Apple devices of weak security and asked me to reconfigure my router. I did so, but iPad and iPhone don't seem to recognize the change and still send the weak security message and use my old WPA setting in that message. So, I don't believe my devices are acknowledging the change I made in router from "WPA - WPA2 Personal" that i changed to just WPA2 Personal. ( I dropped the plain WPA). Router gave me no other options. Did not see an option to add AES to it. My iPhone, however, still says I am at the previous WPA setting (which they also call TKIP).

I did "forget" my network and then sign back in again, but that makes no difference.

I also tried shutting off my iPad but the weak security message remains. iPhone 7, up to date. Also iPad.

On my router, the setting to change from TKIP to AES was a separate setting from the WPA2 setting (and neither was very easy to find). Making the change to WPA2 was not enough but after I changed to AES the message did go away.
