I can’t add my Mac.com address into iCloud settings

No, you cannot. It is nothing more than an alias to your @iclpud.com inbox. It is itself not an active email account and has not been since the fall of 2012. It’s just an alias for your iCloud mail (assuming you migrated it to iCloud prior to the fall of 2012).
