terminal on MacBook m1

Hi,

Can a terminal command (I used for a download of a program) slow down my MacBook Air m1?

It could temporarily slow down your mac while the command runs, but most of the time a terminal command stops when it finishes running, you press control+c to interrupt it, or you quit the terminal app (open it and press command+q). Restart your mac if it's still slow.
