Bluetooth mouse scroll very glitchy on iPad 7th generation

I’m using a HP Bluetooth mouse with my iPad and when I scroll with it, it feels really unresponsive and glitchy

Also when I switch to a different app from the dock the mouse cursor glitches for 2-3 seconds

do i have to buy an apple mouse just for my iPad ?

or does anyone know how to fix this issue ?

iPad, iPadOS 14

HP mice, I do not believe, are compatible with any iOS devices or iPads using/running iPadOS.

You can purchase the Apple Magic Mouse 2 from Apple

OR

Purchase cheaper mice from Logitech.

The Logitech Pebble M350 mouse is compatible with iPads/iPadOS as is either version of Logitech's MX Anywhere 3 mouse OR the MX Master 3

Hi sanskar65,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We can definitely understand wanting to use an accessory with your iPad. Have you confirmed that the mouse if compatible with the iPadOS you have installed on your iPad? Is there any firmware or software updates available for either device? Has your iPad been restarted? Have you tested the mouse with any other device to see if you experience the same issue?

Restart your iPad

If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Hope that helps!

Sanskar65,

Thank you for that information. Have you tried adjusting the setting on the mouse to see if that makes a difference? You should be able to adjust how quickly the pointer moves. You can go to Settings > General > Trackpad & Mouse.

You can see more information about the settings in this article: Use a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad with your iPad.

Good Luck!

Yes have restarted my ipad several times and I’ve checked the mouse with other devices and it works fine. I’m running iPad OS 14.5 currently, and it supports mouse input.

the mouse firmware won’t upgrade as there are no options for that

I think apple has limited the mouse input feature to certain brands of mouse…

so the problem is with the iPad OS not the mouse.

the OS should support a wide range of mouse brands….
