ICloud Mail is Slow
I am having trouble with all my devices being very slow to download. ICloud is really slow on Safari. My internet speed is good.

Be sure to call Apple Support. They need to understand the scope of the problem.
Same exact issue. It happens on OS X Mail app, iPhone, iPad, and even if I log-into iCloud mail through Safari. I have tried multiple internet connections and cellular connection all with the same results. Makes iCloud mail almost unusable.
I have the same problem. It is on my phone, iPad, mac pro, PC with windows, as well. On the PC it happens with Chrome and edge. On the Mac, it is with Safari. The phone, iPad, and Mac Pro are all using different anti-virus systems from the PC. I also have gig speed on Wi-Fi. I am quite certain, due to all of these platforms that the slow performance is on Apple's end
People need to check these boards and others. There is absolutely nothing you can do on your end to resolve this. I have 2 iCloud accounts one is fine one is affected. I’m seeing posts from Europe and Canada now. All, every single one as far as I can tell mentions the same pattern - better in the evening, fine overnight till about 10am EST for me, that will vary in other areas and countries but the pattern is the same. Houston we have a problem!
The support rep I spoke to said engineering got back to him and said they were aware and trying to track it down. He’s scheduled a call back to me tomorrow to let me know of any progress. I will ask him if it’s advisable to post the case number I was given. There’s a lot of detailed information. I’d post it here for others to reference but I’m not certain that I should. If you’re on the east coast as I am it’s all back to normal now fitting in with the pattern of the last 3 or days. The messages load almost instantly now. But by 10am tomorrow we will be back to same slowdown.
They’re aware. The Apple Support rep I spoke to did screen sharing on my devices so he could see when emails he sent to me arrived, how long they took to load. And he saw that the blue dot that indicates an unread message stayed there on other devices even though it had been read on the primary device.
I also submitted screen shots and videos of what was happening. The last time we spoke was after 8:30pm EST and he was able to see for himself how everything was improving in the evening. They know.
Yes 100% this is not a device issue or storage or anything, it's a problem on Apple's end with their servers running icloud mail. Until Apple resolves the issue themselves it won't make a difference. I think the best we can do is keep flooding their support line and refusing any assistance with specific devices. Instead escalate to a senior person and try to convince them there is essentially a service outage.
I switched my settings to stop forwarding emails to my other iCloud account that wasn’t having an issue. So far this morning everything seems ok. However peak hours will begin soon. It 10am EST, on the west coast only 7am. I wouldn’t declare victory just yet. Fingers crossed. 🙏
The senior rep I’ve been dealing with emailed yesterday to say some progress has been made. And I believe so far you two are the only ones who have posted an improvement. The really bad aspect of this from a PR perspective is that the first contacts people are getting are telling them it’s specific to them. All Apple Support reps should have been briefed about the issue by now. If people can get through them the higher level people will admit the issue.
I’ve used Apple devices for over 20 years and have accepted a lot of intermittent inconveniences but this issue and the denial that comes from the lower tier reps is inexcusable.
I would wait until 7am PDT before assuming there’s any improvement. I’ve been fooled multiple times into thinking they might have fixed it. For me 8-8:30pm Eastern is when it gets better for me, by 10pm which would be your 7pm it’s completely normal. As it is right now at 9:51pm. Post back tomorrow what the situation is.
Somewhere I got a message to change the DNS and that wired on my IMac. Still to try on iOS devices
Today seems to be worse for me. Minimum of 1 minute per email to download content. Sr advisor told me last night Apple is aware and working on it. This is terrible service
I just got an email from the rep I was working with, took almost 2 minutes to load. He said they have made progress but it’s still ongoing.
No dice on the DNS settings. The issue(s) seem much deeper than settings on one device as multiple devices at multiple locations (different ISPs and connections types) are having the issue and signing into iCloud mail in Safari produces the same result. Also, they are all out of sync...delete mail on one device and it still shows on another device. For example, my iCloud mail in Safari shows 111 unread messages, while my MacBook shows zero unread messages, and my phone shows 23 unread messages.
I am also seeing that your email and all the iCloud apps are now very slow to download. My time is worth $$ too, so I would appreciate if Apple would get on it. This started about 7-10 days ago. It is not a device issue, it is an Apple cloud server issue for sure.
