Format Samsung 860 EVO SSD Mac Mini M1/Big Sur/Voyager Q dock

Hi,

I have not been able to format a Samsung 860 EVO SSD with my brand new (one das) Mac Mini M1/Big Sur/using a bit old but working with all other HDD; the Voyager Q dock via USB 3 connection.

This SSD mas my disk system inside my now dead Mac pro 5,1 with a Mercury Accelsior S Pcie card.

There a problem mount/unmount that seems to prevent the format process to end.

Erase>Name/APFS/Guid Partition map... the process stays forever or show an error .-(

Any help or suggestions, please?

I now have OWC Drive Dock USB-C (Dual Drive Bay Solution, USB 3.1 Gen 2) that works OK.

Thanks for your help. Yes it is almost a decade old; Voyager Q from Newer Technology sold by OWC. Always working with my Mac Pro 5,1 but sometimes with mount eject problems.

Now the problem I report could be because of this dock?

No problemo with Mac mini 2018 macOS 11.2.3 Big Sur with that OWC dual dock with old Seagate HDDs and Samsung SSDs etc.

But are there any newer post-SATA faster than 550 MB/s docks yet? I have several SATA SSDs that are OK (SAMSUNG V-NAND 860 EVO 1 TB SATAIII 6Gb/s) but I'd like to upgrade to even faster gear soon.

NewerTech Voyager 'Quad'? That is quite old. I have one of those (that did not boot my PowerBook G4 15-inch FW 800).
