Itunes is not reorganising my windows files

Hi All,

I hope you can help.

I have recently reinstalled windows and Itunes is now no longer reorganising my files when I move things, for example from Music to Audiobook. The Consolidate is no longer ticked and does not remain so, and reorganise button is greyed out.

Is there a way of fixing this?

All the solutions I can find on the internet are for Mac and don't appear to have a PC equivilent, or are about something else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to get my Itunes back to how it was.

Thanks

ET

The Consolidate Files button doesn't remain ticked. If you select it and click OK iTunes will work through the library looking for any content outside the iTunes Media folder and if found, copy the file to new location inside the media folder and update the link to the file.

Reorganize files will be greyed out if iTunes is already using the newer layout for the library that puts artist folders inside a Music subfolder of the media folder. Prior to iTunes 9 artist folders would go straight to the media folder.

See Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Keep iTunes Media folder organized. This option when enabled should cause iTunes to move and rename content in response to metadata changes. Occasionally should it fail to do so you can turn the option off and then back on again to force through a change.
