I have had the same issue and was able to bypass it by going to settings/Audible. Turn OFF Allow Audible to Access Media & Apple Music. Restart your audible app and now you can turn off you screen and use audible the same way as before the update.
Thank for the detailed posting. I also talked with Audible and they said to reinstall the app, something I hadn't tried. So far the new version resolved my problem but it is good to have the above in case.
Thanks to everyone for replying to my post.
Thanks Strebby1010. Just got off the the phone with Audible. They now tell me that the app won't work with my iphone6S. Since this started happening when I updated to IOS 14 it appears that they are not going to support the older iphone models. Not sure I trust this but it is time for me to upgrade my phone anyway. So hopefully this solves the problem. I may just find another app altogether!
same problem here after I updated to ios15 this morning. Normal Audible audio stops when phone sleeps when using headphones. I uninstalled Audible and reinstalled it and that seems to have fixed it for me.
I updated my Audible app (May 4 version) and that seemed to work on my iPhone.
‘Disable auto lock’ in audible setting in the app and then works fine!
Delete the Audible app and then reinstall it. This will fix the problem.
All I did and it fixed the issue was I just un-toggled and then re-toggled Media & Apple Music. (See image below)
Works again in Lock Screen. Quick fix for me.
I have had the same issue recently. I was able to fix mine by turning off access for any connected apps which can be done in the “Connect to other Apps” setting.
Hope this helps.
in Settings \ AirPlay & Handoff turn off Transfer to HomePod and Handoff. This fixed it for me.
I found in Audible settings on the app itself a “disable AUTO LOCK button
This has been happening on and off with audible on my iPad with plugged in headphones. A couple of things have worked for me when it happens.
Updating the app helped yesterday morning...until I went to bed and the sound stopped again when I turned off my iPad.
The next thing that worked was force closing the app, reopening and pressing play and putting the sleepy timer on as usual. Then I minimized the app before turning off my iPad and that did the trick.
Updated to iOS 14.6 and it solved the problem.
I did a shut down and restart of my iPhone 11 abd then Audible worked fine again. Thx
Try looking in your App Store under purchases, you should see the audible app and it will have an update option to the right
All I did was remove the app from my phone, then I went into the App Store to reload the app and this time my audible app reloaded, but with all updates and everything worked.
Good luck.
