Audible app stops playing when iPhone sleeps or locks

I installed the audible app and then reinstalled it. That fixed the issue for me.

Happening to me as well. So far I’ve only noticed this w audible app and during night (literally night time - so I think it’s related to apples sleep schedule). Also audio does not stop when phone locks if phone is connected to a Bluetooth speaker.

I’ve had this same problem and no work around has solved the issue. My app crashes after 30-60 seconds of playing. It only lasts 5+ minutes if I keep the app open and screen on. If the screen goes to sleep, I lose audible in 10 seconds. It’s not that the app pauses my audio, it completely crashes.

Possible solutions I’ve tried:

1) toggling off “Allow Audible to Access Media & Apple Music”

2) uninstalling and reinstalling the app

3) updating the app

4) updating my phone

5) submitting a report to audible

it seems that none of these work and it’s been an ongoing problem for the past month and a half.

Anyone have any ideas?

This worked for me! I was having the same problem and I turned off the permission, restarted the app and it still was shutting off so I turned the permission back on and now it works when the screen turns off or if I close my case 😊😊😊

It’s not Apple; it’s Audibles app and some sort of software issue with it. Audible support is who you should make a support ticket with. The more we submit bug issues with their app, The more likely it is to be fixed by their dev team. I haven’t had the issue reoccur since I found my workaround for it until Audible Devs fix it for good. Hope you find a long term fix or Audible fixes their app soon!

I deleted and downloaded the audible app which worked for a few days but now it’s doing it again.

Go to settings, device, auto-lock enter and set your power timer If you set the audible timer it turns off as it should. Use care at other time go manually turn off the screen when using other apps,

I was having the same issues with Audible. I restarted my iPhone, opened the Audible app, waited for it to go to sleep and it kept playing! So, that was my quick fix. I hope this helps someone.

Turning off (or on) media fixes it but you have to repeat every time you change audio. This is stupid!!!!

go into the settings on the audible app and amend “disable auto lock”. The screen now won’t go to sleep when audible is playing and so the sound is continuous.

I have the exact same problem and it drives me insane! I have just deleted and reinstalled the App, so here's hoping!

I’ve found that if I just close out all my other open apps it fixes the problem.

I thought I had a resolution by disabling auto-lock but decided to write to Audible since I didn’t think this was a viable long-term solution. They replied immediately and gave me long and detailed instructions to correct this problem. I encourage anyone who is experiencing these problems to reach out to them. I was extremely happy with their response.

I have the same issue what I have to do is restart my whole iPhone to get it to stop muting audible and it will play audio fine for a day or two but then it does the same thing as soon as the phone locks audible is muted. I’ve tried not having sleep turned on on my iPhone and it still does it it’s an issue with Apple products it doesn’t happen on the audible app on the other smart phones in my home only the iPhones.

Not only is this happening on apps like audible but it's affecting apps like "MayMyRun" by under armour. Whenever I'm cycling, the moment the screen goes off the app stops tracking my movement and pauses. This isn't an app setting that was or can be changed, it's something with the new version of iOS.
