I think I have malware. What can I do?

Description:

Computer started running slow while browsing, mouse dragging or not able to control, beach balling, etc. Pinterest.com in particular kept stopping and having to force quit. I restarted the computer which took longer than it ever has but Pinterest is still doing the same thing, even in incognito window. I’m concerned because I had a Pinterest message from an unknown person that was spammy right before this started.
