Dell P3421W - USB not working with Mac Mini USB-C & PC DP

I'm having an issue where my Dell P3421W monitor USB ports don't interact with my Mac-Mini that is connected through the USB-C connection. I also have a PC connected through the DP which does interact with the monitors USB. Any idea on how to fix?

  • avoid the Dell’s USB-C port as it doesn’t work very well with the mini
  • use instead its USB 3 upstream port and connect it to the mini’s USB-A port or Thunderbolt port using suitable USB-C to USB-A cable/adapter
  • use HDMI for video

Good luck!
