CarPlay connecting using USB

Why won't CarPlay connect in my 2021 Hyundai Sonata using USB?

There are numerous posts about CarPlay wireless dropping connections regularly and I have that problem also, but I would prefer to connect via the USB connector anyway. The problem is that I cannot get my IPHONE XR to connect using USB. It worked on a 2017 Hyundai Sonata but not on a 2021 Hyundai Sonata. I have switched to an Apple brand cable and went thru the many steps suggested to try and get it working but nothing works. The port changes my phone and a USB memory stick plugged into the port plays music so the port is a valid USB port connected to the Infotainment system.

Has anybody figured out a solution for the USB connection portion of the Hyundai/Kia CarPlay fiasco?

Hello Newby9,

We understand your iPhone XR is not being detected by your CarPlay using a USB, and we'd be happy to help.

For this issue, we have a resource that should help: If you need help with CarPlay.

Also, if you have access to another vehicle that has CarPlay, we'd recommend to test if your iPhone experiences the same behavior.

We hope this helps.
