Recyling 2008 MacBook

Has anyone recycled their 13 in MacBook purchased from 2006 - 2013? Mine was purchased in 2008 but the serial number isn't listed on the back of the computer. I can't get a postage label or submit a support email without the serial number.

I haven't turned it on in years I have just been lugging it around through moves. I would like to have this recycled in an environmentally safe way instead of just throwing out.
