MacBook Pro 2009

I’ve recently bought a used macbook. When previous owner erased hard drive he was unable to reinstall El Capitan, now i’m having the same issue. It keeps saying “this item is temporarily unavailable”. I’ve ordered a bootable usb from Amazon, just trying to see if there’s anything I can try until it gets here

You can make a bootable USB for free right now. Read the document 'How to create a bootable installer for macOS' at this link --> https://support.apple.com/HT201372

You should not get Apple software from anywhere other than Apple sources (or old discs distributed by Apple originally) because you do not know if somebody included malware with it.
