Apple Pencil Won’t Pair *An unmentioned fix*
Try to FORCE RESET if your Apple Pencil won’t show up on Bluetooth settings but is recognized when attached to your iPad (showing grey Apple Pencil bubble, but not battery display).
This is not the same as just turning off your iPad and turning it back on. You will also not lose any saved data such as apps or photos.
!!Be sure your iPad is charged to at least 80% and that your Apple Pencil attached!!
PRESS & QUICKLY RELEASE VOLUME UP BUTTON.
REPEAT WITH VOLUME DOWN BUTTON.
PRESS & HOLD POWER BUTTON UNTIL THE APPLE LOGO IS DISPLAYED.
When your iPad restarts, you should now see the Apple Pencil button displayed with the battery percentage. If not be sure your Bluetooth is turned on. Otherwise contact Apple Support to see if you have a defective Pencil.
Hope this helps!

I recently purchased an Apple Pencil 2 & the latest iPad Air. No more than about three weeks after my purchases, I’m working on a logo and the Pencil stops working. I assume this is the first time the battery has died, and leave it to charge for the remainder of the evening. The following day, it is still unresponsive. So I did a little googling and tried, what I felt like, was very solution. I tried forgetting the device and re-pairing, but after I forgot the Pencil, it wouldn’t pair again. It didn’t show up in Bluetooth and when I would take it off and reattach it, it wouldn’t show a charge. -Just the grey flashing “Apple Pencil” bubble. No options to connect or anything. I tried Apple Support, which was great, and they scheduled a Genius Bar appointment for me. While waiting, I decided to get help on my iPad not functioning properly with iMessage and FaceTime. The first trouble-shooting step was: FORCE RESTART (Press & quickly release volume up button. Press & quickly release down button. Then press and hold the “power” button until the Apple logo appears.) AND THIS IS WHAT FIXED MY APPLE PENCIL.
