I am unable to empty the trash in my Gmail account in Apple mail. It has 12000 messages which Apple support said are “hiding”. Anyone know how to empty them from the trash?

Try logging int gmail.com in a Browser, can you Empty Trash there?
No, emptying the trash in Gmail browser does not empty the trash in the Gmail account of AppleMail. Also, these 12000 emails showing themselves in the Gmail in AppleMail do not show themselves on the trash of gmail accessed through Gmail browser!
Somewhere Wires are crossed, unable to see exactly where from here, the gMail account on the Mac isn't in On My Mac is it?
