M1 chip and printers
My Canon PIXMA printer does not work with my brand new MacBook Pro with M1 chip. I notice others are having this problem. WHAT ARE CANON AND/OR APPLE DOING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE?

It would be useful to know the exact issue you are having with your Canon printer and the exact model. Also what driver are you using for this printer? Did Big Sur provide a regular driver or did Big Sur only have the GutenPrint driver available as an option? Does Canon provide a proprietary driver on the Canon Support website for Big Sur? Usually as a worst case scenario there is usually a GutenPrint or CUPS printer driver available for many printers. While these drivers may not be as feature rich as a proprietary driver, they will at least provide basic printing functionality.
Apple has nothing to do with making sure third party devices work with a new OS or new computer. It is up to the third party manufacturers to provide working drivers and support for their third party products.

After connecting my Canon PIXMA MX920 Series 2 printer to my MacBook Pro, I go to System Preferences/Printer and add/set-up the printer in Printers & Scanners. So far, so good. I select the Canon printer as the default printer in Printers & Scanners (in Printer section of System Preferences). So far, so good. Then I attempt to print a page. Nothing. It's a conundrum to me.
Someone mentioned that Apple's M1 chip requires printers that are compatible with Apple "AirPrint" (https://www.rtings.com/printer/reviews/best/by-feature/airprint). I don't know.
