my underscore isnt working on mac

i have a macbook air. the underscore doesn't work when I directly hit shift-hyphen. i have to continuously hit hyphen first and then shift for an underscore and its hectic so I. have to copy paste and use it. any help?

Capital letters How can I disable Mac from automatically converting names to CAPITAL LETTERS? It is annoying always pressing command + Z to go back to normal letters. Still I would like Mac to capitalize the first letter of each word. I am using MacBook Pro with Monterey 12.3.1

"hit hyphen first and the shift for an underscore" I don't understand this. Are you saying that it works but only if you type a hyphen first?

Check if there is some cruft under the key.

You did not say what model your Air is; some may be covered for a free keyboard repair.
