iTunes Track Names via Gracenote ERROR

So I went back on today since I got it fixed for myself (mentioned above). Gracenote isn't working again. I even tried it on multiple internet connections. I'm not going through the process of reinstallation and modification again, so I'll wait for a fix. Looking at you, Apple. I am about to put in a request with support. This has been going on for almost a month now. A new patch would be nice. This is super irritating. I have specifically set aside time to digitize my CDs.

You may wish to check what version of iTunes you have running on your Win 7 machine at work. I just loaded a disc on a Win 7 machine with the most current version of iTunes under Win 7, version 12.6.3.6 and it still brings up the Gracenote error. I as usual tried a refresh of the CD data and still get the 0x0 error.

In addition, like I did yesterday, I fired up the laptop just now that I have with the older version of iTunes (12.11.0.26) running on Win 10 (with most recent Win 10 update) and still no Gracenote data coming up. According to Google, the most current version of iTunes came out on April 22, 2021 and is version 12.11.3 for Windows 10.

About Windows 7: The most current version of iTunes that runs on Win7 is actually 12.10.11.2. (12.6.3.6 is more than 3 years old, and someone probably kept it because it had the App Store.)

I notice that “Glittery” posted at Reddit, and began by stating, “Ever since the recent iTunes patch...” Sounds rather like post hoc reasoning. This thread has not established any connection between the Gracenotes issue and a specific version of iTunes - in fact it suggests to me that there is no such connection, so don’t hold your breath hoping that the next iTunes update will solve it.

Thank you for pointing out that my copy of iTunes was ancient. No idea! Simply updating from the Apple Software Update in Windows. Still seems though like patching this machine with the current version of iTunes for Windows 7 won't fix things with regard to Gracenote metadata errors.

I also rely on this machine for a lot of production work in both audio and video where quicktime is involved in a lot of encoding and decoding of tracks, stems and then video finals. I cannot afford to bork this machine by putzing around with something as central as QuickTime and there are a lot of third party codecs that have been installed over the years that are integral to its smooth and quick operation.

All this is really beside the point. I simply wanted to explain why I will not hastily update iTunes, at this point until there is a known fix.

Perhaps a dispute between Gracenote and Apple? But in that case, Gracenote wouldn’t work for any iTunes users at all.

Microsoft sabotaging iTunes? Maybe.

Perhaps Gracenote is using an algorithm to block specific users who are deemed in violation of their End User License Agreement? Yes, Gracenote has an EULA which is part of Apple’s EULA. It says they use a “unique identifier to track queries for statistical purposes”!?

And today, as if by magic, it works! Same version of iTunes, no updates to Windows (that I'm aware of), and - most importantly - nothing from Apple! But, hey, let's count our blessings. Maybe this one has gone away for good....

That’s good to hear! I’ve been wondering if this issue had gone away for a week because I haven’t seen any new reports. The cause remains a mystery, but does not seem to have been limited to the iTunes update released in April. I hear that Microsoft is busy working on a new App Store, which might be connected.

It is co-incidence. The problem WAS there with Windows 7 and iTunes. There was an undisclosed change made in the ether, the Cloud, to the way iTunes addresses the Gracenote Database, so it works now. See the recent above posts on the matter to make sense of it. Redstrat50's post is the one indicating the fix occurred somehow.

I've got the same problem. I've tried everything on two computers. This seemed to have started after the most recent ITunes update.

I am having the same issue. Rebooted multiple times. Same Gracenote 0x0 error. Like that for days.

Has this issue been resolved? All of the sudden I haven o access to gracenotes. I updated itunes, rebooted my router, and checked firewall access?

I’m on the East Coast as well never had this happen I’ve tried all suggestions with no success

Tried this, didn't work. I've just gone back to using Windows Media Player to rip CDs.
