Hello everyone. This will only help those that have a backup somewhere and know their current vault password.

Download Password Manager

setup vault with same password

create a backup to DropBox (will be blank)

go to DropBox and navigate to

Apps/iPassword+/

you will see here the blank backup you just did.

Find your original backup and replace the blank one with that one.

Open password manager (new one with good trim but same logo)

settings

restore from DropBox (will get success but will be blank first time)

close and repeat the restore again and should now populate

good luck

Had the same problem with the old version of iPassword when my iPad was updated to 14.5. Many thanks to CPens and Jocasta68 for their helpful posts. I had no problem with the trial version of iMazing extracting the data from iPassword on my iPad and getting the data into the old version of iPassword on an old iPad (ios 9). Created a backup of iPassword on the old iPad and used wi-fi to get the backup file onto my Mac. To get this backup file on to the ios 14.5 iPad with the new version of ipassword used the iPassword restore function using Dropbox . For some unknown reason the restore using wi-fi would not work and I did't want to use iCloud or email.

Again, thank you to those who showed the way forward.

Thanks Cpen,

for the directions - for myself I didnt follow all of it but it give me the idea to restore it.

I did restore the iPassword app purchase in to my old iPad and restore the backup from icloud with using same apple id. Once i got my all the password - I backed them up to a file and kept the file locally on the laptop through itunes.

Reinstall the free version of iPassword app - and put the backup file in to new app through itunes and boom. All passwords are back.

thank you for idea Cpen

Thanks for all the restore ideas in this post. I was able to recover my passwords by backing up my iPhone 12 (14.5.1) and performing a full restore onto an old iPhone 8 I had that was still running 13.x. Then, like others I had to get the old iPassword app onto the iPhone 8 by going to the APP store on the 8 and searching in my "Purchased" apps. I found it and it let my install right from there. Once I had the app on the 8 I had to grab the data files from my 12. I had no luck with iMagine for whatever reason. Instead I used iTunes by connecting my 12 to a PC and going into File Sharing /Apps/iPassword. It allowed my to extract just the data file from iPassword and safe it to the PC. Then I connected the iPhone 8 to the same PC, drilled into the app via iTunes the same as on the 12, and dragged in the file I had backed up from my 12. After a warning and clicking next, in about 6 seconds I was up and had my passwords operational on the iPhone 8. I thought about stopping here and just manually writing down all my passwords but I have 200 of them. Instead I added the newer version of iPassword "the one with the gold trim" onto my 12 from the app store. I went back to the iPhone 8 and used the iPassword backup option within the old app to backup my passwords via iTunes. Then finally...form the new iPassword app on my 12 (the one with the gold trim) I was able to perform a restore from within the new app using iTunes and selecting the old apps backup.

Even though im good now, im searching for a new password app as these guys dropped the ball pretty bad in my eyes and might do it again next month.

This person is a genius! This is the answer. Anyone looking for an answer its right here!!!!

You backup the app data of iPassword (using iMazing) by plugging your current iphone into the computer.

https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-export-backup-and-transfer-ios-apps-data-and-settings

Then you plug in your old phone with the old ios and restore it using the file iMazing created. Also in the instruction in the link above. Saved me so much time and grief. I cant thank you enough CPens!!!!!

I use iPassword, updated my iPhone to 14.5.1 last nite and I can no longer use iPassword due to the update. What I can deduce is

that the iPhone 14.5.1 update is preventing me from using the iPassword app. I have not received any notification from Apple

about this issue, Apple unilaterally made the decision to disable the app without warning the user community. Apple has a record

of the the app users thru the App Store and had the ability to provide a notification, wonder if Apple has a customer support

policy that covers disabling customer applications that have been paid for or are free. I am at fault here for using the iPassword

app, I will never use a product from the developer again, but Apple did not take the basic step to inform it's users that it was

disabling an app that provided a function that was critical to a user -> maintaining their passwords. I need to convey this scenario

to my representatives and the FCC. In the interim I am going to try to recover my passwords with the input from the community.

Has anyone attempted to simply restore their ipone to the last version of IOS (14.4) Mine was working then, but not now. Wondering if it will work. I'm so annoyed with this. Fortunately, you can see a good amount of your PWs in you Password section on iphone, if you have used the phone to sign in to them. Painstaking, to be sure, but it's something.

I was able to resolve my issue using iMazing. Couldn't figure out how to email a copy, but was able to back up my new iphone, save the password manager to the desktop, connect the old phone and install it on there by dragging and dropping with the quick transfer feature. It opened on the old phone after it restarted. I manually transferred the passwords to a new program on my new phone. Whew! This time I chose KEEPER as it has an online component as well.

I have had this same issue ever since I upgraded to iOS 14.5. I quickly realized that my iPassword Manager no longer functioned. Having literally hundreds of passwords in this app that I have used daily for several years, I went into panic mode. I searched the internet. Nothing. It took a while for users to realize that the SHTF. Okay, just restore from iCloud and I would be in business again. Wrong! Thanks to Apple, even if you restore the data from a prior time point, you are stuck with the latest version of iOS, in this case iOS 14.5. And of course, iPassword Manager does not work with iOS 14.5. Did the developer die? Why didn't he update the app to work with the latest iOS? Who knows.

I was able to transfer data from iPassword Manager only because I have an older iPhone that has an older iOS (pre iOS 14.5). On the older iPhone, I backed up the data from iPassword Manager to Dropbox. I downloaded a new version of iPassword Manager that can be found in the App Store on my newer iPhone. I then used the same master password to start fresh and restored from Dropbox. Success! Mind you, the data is a couple years old since it was from the older iPhone, but having most of my passwords is better than nothing.

Lesson learned? Two is one and one is none. In this case, I started using BitWarden and will slowly but surely copy my passwords to the new platform. At least I have the original app with the majority of passwords as a backup to the backup.

I hope this helps someone else.

Apple, shame on you for not warning users that we might have an app that is incompatible with iOS 14.5. I lost five great apps, one of which is critical to my digital life. I love you and I hate you.

@CPens: Thanks a million for the great suggestions, if tat can be helpful, I would share a couple of experiences that made the process harder for me, hoping they help other.

First, I had problems with iiMazing needing the password of the backup. I never realized this was a separate password that remains separate from the one of the iTunes account. In my case the password of the account at the time I bought the iPad I was trying to use was so old I didn't remember it,, so in the end I had to find another phone for which I could remember it.

Second, iMazing reset my phone when it restored the passwords file, which broke a lot of stuff. For some reason Signal, my office security App and more got completely reset, a royal pain. Singal now closes just after I open it even after reinstalling it (losing all chats). Be aware of this, cPens did it happen also to you?

I didn’t have an issue with my phone password or my iPassword. I had those memorized.

I’m pretty sure I updated just the password app, I backed up the iPassword data to my desktop then selected only that. The iMazing software can replace everything or just one app. Depends on what you told it to do. Either way it didn’t matter because the old phone was used for password recovery and nothing else.

Also, using iMazing I was able to recover everything because it extracted the latest data from my 14.5.1 phone which I stupidly hadn’t backed up for about 5 months.
