Hello everyone. This will only help those that have a backup somewhere and know their current vault password.

Download Password Manager

setup vault with same password

create a backup to DropBox (will be blank)

go to DropBox and navigate to

Apps/iPassword+/

you will see here the blank backup you just did.

Find your original backup and replace the blank one with that one.

Open password manager (new one with good trim but same logo)

settings

restore from DropBox (will get success but will be blank first time)

close and repeat the restore again and should now populate

good luck

It should work for you. Here are the directions I gave other people just use your iPad.

Go to iMazing’s site, download the trial, select continue trial on the start up page. Plug in your phone that no longer works with iPassword, it will show in the iMazing browser then find apps and navigate to iPassword. Control click and select Extract App. Save that file to your desktop, it's your password data. You can also backup your phone using iMazing and get the files that way too without having your phone plugged in but then you have to wait for the backup.

Next step. Have your downgraded phone ready, I used an extra iphone 5. Go to the app store on your old phone. Find and select iPassword from your Purchased apps and download it. If it's already on your old phone skip this step. Plug in your old iphone to your computer. Navigate to your phone in iMazing then find iPassword in the IMazing browser, control click on iPassword and select Restore App. Navigate to the file you saved on your desktop and select it. Then follow the iMazing prompts. I recreated these directions for myself and it worked for me again. Good luck.

Don’thold your breath for Apple caring for loyal customers, i had hundreds of thousands of pictures in Aperture and they killed it and replaced it with Photos.

In this thread there is a perfectly working solution, get an old iphone (in case buy it secondhand and then sell it) use the iMazing software to move iPassword there and you get access.

I also had Aperture, Apple made it clear they were dropping it long it advance and made it so you could transfer pictures to iPhotos and later Photos or any competitors app.

iPassword is not an Apple app and was abandoned by the app developer. It is up to the buyer of 3rd party apps to keep track of them, not Apple.

I was able to get my data back.. Tried a ton 3rd party apps, nothing works. iMazing didn't work; a bunch of others didn't work. Fortunately at some point in the past (probably before the update,) I did a backup to icloud so there was a copy of the data there. I bought my wife an ipad a few years ago; on that she never uses. I fired it up and it had iOS 12 on it. I logged into her ipad with my icloud account, went to the APP and re-downloaded the app from my previous purchases. Once I had the app on the iPad with iOS 12 I opened it then did a restore from iCloud. I did use iMazing to create a backup of the app data from my wife's ipad but I don't have an app that can read the .backup file it created. I'm now in the process of manually copying all the password I had stored in the app.

I tried all the 3rd party apps listed in the thread but they didn't work. It's like Apple has blocked all access to the app. I could see that the app had data in because of the size, but it would not copy to my machine. I tried both a MAC and a PC. I had a hard time sleeping last night so I went through all the troubleshooting steps I could think of and when I got out of be this morning I was able to get my passwords back.

I was able to resolve by:

1) Having an iphone backup on in iCloud

2) Having a device that WAS NOT on iOS 14. My wife's ipad I was on iOS 12

3) Logged her out of iCloud on her iPad, logged myself in

4) Go to App Store on the iOS 12 device | go to Account | go to Purchases | click My Purchases

5) Search for iPassword and redownload it

6) Open iPassword | Create password

7) Go to Settings

8) Restore from iCloud Backup

9) Close and Open the app (the password will be whatever it was at the time you did the backup) and all your passwords will be there.

10) I then made a backup of the passwords via WiFi but I can't read the file because I don't have an app that will open it.

I'm now in the process of manually copying my passwords to paper so I can add them back to a different app IF I decide that's what I want to do going forward.

I restored my passwords using an ipassword backup and itunes. I connected an old iphone that already had ipassword on it (or you could add it from your old purchases) to my computer.

I dragged the backup to itunes by going to device icon, file sharing, ipassword.

Then I went to the ipassword app on the old phone and found the menu to restore the backup on the bottom of the app and followed the directions.

This was very similar to the icloud restore someone successfully accomplished. I always make a backup before upgrading my phone, but since the passwords on the backup were encypted, the backup seemed useless. It was easy once I followed this group’s ideas and altered it a bit. I still have a lot of work to do. Thank you.

so from reading everyone's post - unless you have an old phone around to use - you are pretty much screwed. Shame on me for recycling mine.... ughhhh . i tried using a friends old 7 that had been completely erased but it wont let you down load the back up without updating the software. So I guess i am totally screwed. Thanks everyone for all your input. Il keep my app on my phone for a while longer in case someone else comes up with a solution.

I tried the free version of iMazing for PC and wasn't able to extract the app data for iPassword v.3.7 so that I could restore onto another device with an older iOs. I was able to get some info from 'Library'. Any ideas how I can get this info into new version of iPassword or the view the info? It seems all password info is in the 'XFFile' folder but not in a readable format.

iPassword needs to updated by developer...Developer took a hike and Apple does not offer a support, funny uh! Apple accepts the app by the developer and developer says "Can I go whenever I want and leave million of people out of luck?

Apple replies "Sure..who cares" This is exactly what happened.

What I did was first bought an iPhone 6 like someone suggested and did not work, but hopefully a friend had an iPhone 8

I was able to backed it up with a backup that I had from October of 2020 and open de iPassword app and took a bunch of pics

of the relevant passwords I had along with SS#s medical notes and more. I was able to recuperate all the data fortunately.
